Finn Valley AC will host an open track and field meet next Wednesday, March 19 for U9-U12 athletes.

The exciting evening of athletics at the Patsy McGonagle Track is open to all clubs and athletes who are registered with AAI or ANI.

The meet will get underway at 5.30pm.

For U12s, there will be 80m, 600m, long jump and high jump.

There will also be 60m sprints, long jump and turbo javelin events for U9, U10 and U11 races with a 300m race for the U9s, a 500m version for the U10s and the U11s set to go over 600m.

An open 800m walk will also take place on the evening.

Hand timing will be used for the races.

Registration will be open from 4.30pm and costs €5 per athlete.

“This fun-filled evening of athletics will give young athletes some further experience of competitive action,” Finn Valley AC Chairman Dermot McGranaghan said.

“With the outdoor season action set to be busy, it offers club coaches and athletes an excellent chance to get into a competitive environment across a range of events.

“With the event open to all clubs and athletes who are AAI or ANI registered, we hope that clubs, coaches and parents will engage positively and ensure a big turnout to add to the exciting and competitive nature of the evening.”
