The launch of a new Swilly Sisters’ Shed was a huge success this week, with nearly 70 attendees gathering in Rathmullan.

The new shed invites women aged 18 and over from Rathmullan, Ray, Ramelton, Kerrykeel, Portsalon, Fanad, Milford, and surrounding areas to get involved  to engage in activities, learn new skills, and build friendships.

The atmosphere in the St. Vincent de Paul Centre at Tuesday’s launch was described as one of genuine friendship and lively “craic,” with attendees enjoying tea and cake.

The launch was made possible by the support of the Donegal Local Development Company, with Karen McGinley present to represent the organisation.

The evening also featured special guests Bridget Duffy and Bernadette Hunter from the Cranford Women’s group who spoke about the activities of Cranford Women’s Group over the past 25 years, sharing their experiences and insights.

The Swilly Sisters are now looking forward to the future, with “exciting plans on the horizon” and a clear “Spring Forward” motion.

Starting next week, Tuesday meetings will now commence at 7 pm to accommodate those relying on the Local Link service.

Follow the Swilly Sisters Shed Facebook page for more details of meetings and events to come.

“The large turnout shows there is a real need for a women’s group in the community. Wishing the Swilly Sisters’ Shed every success as they get started,” said a spokesperson for DLDC.

“If you are thinking of setting up or growing a community group, our Community Development team is here to help, please get in touch.” (dldc.org)

This project is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union. For more information please visit www.eufunds.ie
