Call for signage to prevent wrong turns in Letterkenny town centre

Donegal County Council has been asked to provide new signs to prevent cars turning down a one-way street in Letterkenny.

Councillor Jimmy Kavanagh raised the issue with Letterkenny-Milford MD Roads Section this week, asking the council to take action to show there is no left turn onto the Port Road for traffic at the traffic lights on High Road.

The council responded to say that a “no left turn” sign at this location would be misleading to traffic as it could indicate to traffic that they are unable to travel down the Justice Walsh Road.

Currently, the council has “No Entry” road markings at the top of Port Road to deter drivers from going in the wrong direction.

Following Cllr Kavanagh’s query, the council has agreed to carry out an assessment to establish if there is a suitable location to erect No Entry signs.
