Animal charity seeks to return gentle ‘Garron’ to rightful owner

The Animals In Need (AIN) Donegal charity is seeking to return an injured cat to its rightful owner.

The feline was found outside Pluck, between Lifford and Letterkenny, last Saturday.

Charity volunteers have named him ‘Garron’ after TikToker Garron Noone who was recently at the centre of a social media storm after his comments on immigration.

“As he was found on Saturday, with the whole media storm on line over Garron Noone ‘s deactivating his accounts, we named him Garron – in fairness, big hairy cat is the perfect feline version of him, big gentle soul,” a spokesperson for AIN told Donegal Daily.

They said they are desperately trying to find the owners as someone ‘clearly cared for him’.

“His fur was hanging off him in bit felted mats, from being unable to groom himself due to the wire sticking out of his jaw from a previous jaw break that had been surgically fixed,” they explained.

Usually that wire stays in for six weeks but X-rays revealed the jaw was very well healed.

“Based on that, and his overall condition with his fur, it could be months since the surgery,” they added.

“His body was covered in scratches where he had tried to groom himself. He had a broken canine tooth that needed surgically removed, as well as a deep cut on his nose that needed stitches. We are desperate to find his owners so they can be reunited.”

The charity has contacted local vets with no joy, but he could have travelled further afield.

If Garron belongs to you, or you know his owner, you can contact Animals In Need Donegal via their Facebook page.
