Gardaí have reissued their appeal over a serious assault in Burnfoot in which a youth was attacked by five others.

The incident occurred on Tuesday the 11th of March at approximately 8pm. It has been alleged that a male was assaulted at that location by five other youths (3 male and 2 female). He sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the incident.

Garda Claire Rafferty said they wanted to issue a fresh appeal in light of new details emerging.

“We stated last week that the incident is believed to have occurred at approximately 8pm. It has since been established that it occurred at 7.37pm,” she explained.

The five youths in question had travelled to Burnfoot village by car from the Buncrana direction. They left following the incident and travelled in the direction of Bridgend.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them in Buncrana on 0749320540.

“We are particularly interested in hearing from anybody who may have travelled on the R238 (Buncrana to Bridgend road) with a dash-cam between 7.20pm and 7.50pm on that date,” Garda Rafferty concluded.

The Garda Confidential Line may also be contacted on 1800 666 111.
