Glenveagh Castle to close two days per week for ‘operational reasons’

It has been confirmed that Glenveagh Castle will be closed to tours every Monday and Friday.

Park management has cited ‘operational reasons’, understood to be as a result of staff shortages.

The shortened visiting week will take effect from June 1st, with the exception of bank holidays.

The National Park, including the information desk at the castle, will remain open on Mondays and Fridays. All other services, including the gardens, Visitor Centre and shuttle bus services, will also remain open seven-days-per-week.

“We are keen to provide as much notice as possible and apologise if these changes affect your plans or business,” a spokesperson for Glenveagh National Park said.

“Park Management thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this difficult decision.”

Public Consultation

Meanwhile, the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), in partnership with Fáilte Ireland, last week launched the public consultation phase for the draft Visitor Experience and Development Plan for Glenveagh National Park.
