Letterkenny Tennis Club looks set to expand its existing facilities, thanks to Donegal County Council.
The local authority agreed at their monthly meeting on Monday to sign over just over a quarter of an acre of additional lands on a 50 acre lease.
The ground is adjacent to their current home, just off the High Road. The club has been based at ‘Murric-a-Boo’, behind the new Letterkenny Courthouse, since 1997.
“The new lease is required as further lands are being sought by the Letterkenny Tennis Club to expand their facilities and activities,” the meeting heard.
Proposing the move, Cllr Ciaran Brogan said discussions had been going on for some time and that he was ‘glad to get it over the line.’
The council is also to seek funding in order to provide ‘intermittent access’ to the courts for ‘disabled vehicles.’
