A well-known Donegal photographer has launched a fundraiser to help his beloved dog receive the medical treatment she needs.

James O’Donnell has documented his travels with his beloved border collie, Iggy, across social media for many years – with Iggy herself becoming a social media star and face of many popular yearly calendars along with James’ other dog, Frida.

However, now Iggy is facing a steep uphill medical mattle after suffering a stroke at the start of this year, and also fighting Vestibular disease.

James has decided to set up a fundraiser to go towards her ongoing care – and also to prepare for the worst if it comes to bear.

“With everything that’s gone on for the last three months, I’ve decided to launch a GoFundMe campaign for Iggy,” James posted.

“It’s called ‘Iggy’s Wellness Fund’ and money raised will go towards her veterinary care, which includes physio and laser therapy, consultations, checkups, and medication.”

“In the event of Iggy’s health being too poorly to continue, I have factored in her euthanasia and cremation, too. This is the reality of where we are at.”

However, James wishes to give his beloved companion the chance to pull through despite the medical circumstances.

All funds raised will go towards Iggy’s physio and laser therapy, vet examinations and consultations, and her medication.

“I’m pro giving Iggy a chance as you know to get through this, but we have to accept that it might not be the case. This is the quandary that I’m in.”
