Donegal County Council has been praised for the delivery of state-of-the-art playgrounds in the Finn Valley.
Councillor Dakota Nic Mheanman raised the issue at this week’s meeting of the Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District.
The meeting heard that the €200,000 revamp of the Stranorlar playground (main pic) on Railway Road will be unveiled to the public shortly.
Cllr Nic Mheanman said, from what she has seen, it is an impressive and well-equipped facility.
However, she added, the council now needs to bring other play parks in the area up to a similar standard.
“The Ard McCool (Stranrolar) play park looks great,” she told the meeting.
Some of the excellent additions to the newly refurbished playground on Railway Road, Stranorlar.
“As it has yet to open, I told my child to the playground in Killygordon, but it was in a poor condition, with some of the rubber surface torn up. I went on to Castlefin and I was also impressed with the play facilities there. I’m looking forward to the Killygordon playground being refurbished.”
A report presented to the meeting stated that a contractor has been appointed and refurbishment works are to begin shortly on the Killygordon facility. The works will include enlarging it, the installation of new and accessible equipment, new fence and a complete new rubber surface.
