Fire Service brings Stranorlar forest fire under control just in time

A unit of the Stranolar Fire Brigade managed to bring a blaze in a nearby forest under control tonight.

The fire broke out in a wood behind the Gort Scith picnic area, between Stranorlar and Killygordon.

Luckily, however, it was spotted by locals and brought under control before it could spread further.

It is the latest in a line of similar incidents around the county.

For most of today, members of the Donegal Fire Service battled a major gorse fire near Kerrykeel.
