Cllr Patrick McGowan has welcomed the reopening of the revamped playground at Railway Road, Stranorlar.

It is now an impressive and well-equipped facility (main pic), having undergone a €200,000 transformation.

“Thanks to all at the BASE who made a successful application for funding to refurbish the playground,” Cllr McGowan said.

“Thanks also to John Deeney and his colleagues at Donegal County Council and the contractors who have carried out a fantastic job,” he said.

Cllr McGowan has also confirmed works are to start in two week’s time on the refurbishment of the community playground at Dromore, Killygordon.

The works will include enlarging it, the installation of new and accessible equipment, new fence and a complete new rubber surface.

He has been advised by Donegal Co Council that local contractor, Creative Landscaping Works Ltd, will undertake the refurbishment works which will commence on April 28.

“It should take about 8-10 weeks to do the works. The local CAKE committee has welcomed this news as the playground has been deteriorating for a while,” Cllr McGowan said.

“A notice will be erected on the gate next week to let the public know of the temporary closure.”
