A Letterkenny man is to take on one of Portugal’s most famous cycling routes, all to raise money for a suicide awareness charity.
Martin Homer will take on the N2 challenge this May on behalf of Cycle Against Suicide, and has already raised €1,500 ahead of the journey.
The N2 challenge involves cycling along Portugal’s longest continuous road, stretching from Chaves in the North to Faro in the South.
“I’m trying to raise awareness about mental health and maybe lift the lid on the stigma that unfortunately affects so many people in this busy world we live in,” Martin said regarding his motivation for the fundraising challenge.

He is also raising money for the cause in Letterkenny Shopping Centre today, and is asking members of the public to drop by and take a spin as well.
“I have a space in the Letterkenny Shopping Centre booked for this Saturday the 19th of April, just outside Mc Gettigans bakery or where Santa had his grotto. I will be there from 10 am to 6 pm where I will have a few spin bikes set up.”
“If anyone is about Letterkenny, please pop in as I’d love if you could join me and maybe even hop on a bike!”
