Plenty of egg-citement over Easter for Portsalon Golf Club Ladies

There was plenty of egg-citement over the Easter season at Portsalon Golf Club, with the Ladies providing plenty of competition.

Full club notes for this week are below:

Easter Sunday

It wasn’t just the ‘eggstravaganza’ of birdies from Claire McGonagle on Sunday that was impressive totaling 11 in all, 7 of which were on the front 9, it was the eagle on the 17th that was mouthwatering. The difficult Par 5, dog leg left, avoiding out of bounds all the way, was well cleared by an amazing drive and the talented Claire finished off the hole in great style to win the Easter weekend competition.

Spring Hamper

There was huge interest from the lady beginners who were part of the very successful introduction to golf last summer playing in their first hamper competition. The ladies have been consistent throughout the year getting out and enjoying the sport of golf and friendships they have made. Maeve Ward’s practice paid off when she took the main hamper in the competition. With very little separating the ladies, Marie Boyce was pipped into runner up position.

The rest of the field took to the course on Good Friday and the early starters got the best of the weather. Roisin McCormick showed no signs of a Lady Captain’s pressure as she led from the front and took the main hamper prize home with her. Hunting her down were some very familiar faces on the winning podium this past few months, but Lady Captain Roisin was well clear of the chasing pack by 3 points. It was breaks of ties that separated Pamela Clinton and Claire Ferry and Deirdre O’Toole came in 4th.

Ladies Open Day

Many thanks to Metec who are the sponsors for the upcoming Ladies Open on Friday 2nd of May. Book on BRS or call the club to 074 915 9459.

Lady Captain’s Outing

Lady Captain Roisin McCormack’s outing to Cruit Island is on the 17th May. Ladies are asked to sign the sheet in the locker room indicating their intention to go, so that tee times can be finalized. The annual Lady Captain’s outing is always a great day out and overnight accommodation has also been organised. It’s a no pressure fun competition that everyone wants to win!

Donegal Shield

Best wishes to Lady Captain Roisin who leads out the Portsalon Ladies team in Bundoran on Saturday 26th April.
