Relay for Life invites cancer survivors to lead powerful opening lap

The annual Relay for Life Donegal is just around the corner, and we are calling on all cancer survivors to join us for this year’s event.

Relay for Life is a unique 24-hour walking event where teams strive to have at least one team member walking around a track for the entire duration, symbolising the ongoing fight against cancer. It takes place on 24th & 25th May at the ATU Donegal, Letterkenny Campus.

As survivors, you are the true VIPs of this event, and we want to honour as many of you as possible. When you arrive, you will receive a purple t-shirt (if you don’t already have one from previous years) and a Relay for Life tote bag filled with a few special goodies. Additionally, each survivor will receive a free meal voucher to be redeemed at An Dánlann anytime over the weekend.

Our event will kick off with the powerful Survivors’ Lap at 4pm, where all survivors will walk together in a sea of purple, setting the tone for the 24-hour relay. This lap is a moving tribute to your strength and resilience, and we want as many of you as possible to be part of this unforgettable moment.

In addition to the lap, our Survivors Choir, comprised of some of our most talented and most enthusiastic survivors, will be performing throughout the weekend. Their performances are always a highlight, showcasing the spirit and talent within our survivor community.

Survivor registration begins on Saturday 24th May at 10am at the ATU, Letterkenny Campus. To ensure everything runs smoothly, we ask that all survivors be present by 3:30pm to prepare for the opening lap. Your participation is not just inspirational; it’s a vital part of what makes Relay for Life Donegal a powerful and uplifting event.

Join us in celebrating life, honouring those we have lost, and fighting back against cancer. Your presence and participation make a difference, and we cannot wait to walk with you.

You can register on the day or online at https://www.relayforlife.ie/event/donegal/home (Scroll down to ‘Join Survivors at Relay’)

Let’s make this year’s Relay for Life Donegal the most memorable yet!
