Around 80-90 members of the Indian community in Letterkenny gathered at Market Square recently
for a peaceful vigil to honour the 26 victims of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
The attack, which targeted civilians and tourists, has heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
The vigil included prayers, candle lighting, floral tributes, and signing a book of condolences.
Many participants also brought diya lamps, incense sticks, and spiritual offerings to pay their respects.
Organisers stressed that the gathering was not a protest, but a peaceful expression of grief, unity, and solidarity against violence.
“We stand tall together, beyond borders, in remembrance and hope for peace,” a community spokesperson shared.
The tragic attack, described as one of the worst on civilians in recent years, has drawn international concern.
Organisers say the Letterkenny vigil was “a solemn but inspiring evening, underlining how communities abroad continue to feel, respond to, and stand together in the face of tragedy back home.”
