A Ramelton man has been put off the road after being caught drug-driving.
Lee Vambeck was disqualified from driving when he appeared at Letterkenny District Court.
Vambeck, now a 39-year-old of Breaghy Upper, Ramelton, was stopped by gardai at Ramelton Road, Letterkenny on March 29, 2024.
He failed a road side test conducted by gardai. Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that Vambeck was “fully cooperative” and there were “no issues” following his arrest.
The court heard that Vambeck has a number of previous convictions, but nothing of a similar nature.
Mr Frank Dorrian, solicitor for Vambeck, said the incident represented a “remnant rather than use on the day”.
He said: “There is no suggestion that he was intoxicated or incapacitated, but nevertheless it is a breach. He is a young man with a good history and a good character.”
Mr Dorrian asked for a postponement to the start of the disqualification until October.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham convicted Vambeck and fined him €200 as well as imposing a one-year disqualification.
