Gairmscoil Chú Uladh musical takes audiences back to the 80s!

There was high energy and lots of hits from Gairmscoil Chú Uladh students who staged a “Back to the 80s/Siúl Siar ar na 80í” in the Balor Theatre in Ballybofey last week.

The two-night production featured a story of heartbreak, resilience and joy with high quality direction, choreography and music throughout.

With their musical director, Kelli Nic Ruaidhrí at the helm, the students put on a vibrant and colourful production with a difference – hits like “Video Killed the Radio Star”, “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, and “Come on Eileen” – were all translated into Irish by Ms Mc Ruaidhrí for the show and remained as catchy as ever!

A dedicated and talented cast of students from several different year groups brought this high-energy, feel-good musical to life, and on both nights the audience were thoroughly entertained with a first-rate performance from all. It was an all-hands on deck affair with teachers Master Ó Gallachóir and Master Ó Mainín in cameo roles, and sound and props expertly covered by another team of students. Many thanks to the team in the Balor and all the GCU staff members for their help in making this a truly unforgettable run!
