National: Man, 40s, arrested after Garda seriously injured in hit-and-run

A man in his 40s has been arrested after a young Garda was seriously injured in an alleged hit-and-run in Co Louth.

Gardaí say they continue to investigate a dangerous driving incident in which a van was driven at a Garda in Ardee on Friday last, 2nd May 2025.

Gardai last night arrested a man in his 40s in connection with this investigation.

He is currently detained at a Garda station in the Eastern region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling in Clonmore Estate area between 4:00am and 4:40am on the 2nd May 2025 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
