Salon professionals are uniquely positioned to support individuals experiencing domestic violence, coercive control, and addiction.
Recognising this, HSE Social Inclusion, in partnership with An Garda Síochána, Donegal Domestic Violence Service, and the North West Regional Drug & Alcohol Task Force (NWRDATF), is offering free training to equip salon professionals with the knowledge and tools to identify the signs of abuse and addiction and appropriately signpost individuals to support services.
During this training, attendees will hear directly from a survivor who has lived through these experiences, offering invaluable insight into the challenges faced by those in abusive or addictive situations. This powerful perspective will deepen understanding and strengthen the ability to provide compassionate support.
The training will provide salon professionals with:
- Practical guidance on recognising warning signs of domestic violence, coercive control, and substance misuse.
- Strategies for offering discreet support and signposting clients to relevant services.
- Insights into local resources available to those in need.
- Best practices for handling sensitive conversations while maintaining professional boundaries.
- A set of practical resources to assist in supporting clients beyond the training session.
This free training will take place on Monday, 19th May, at Silver Tassie Hotel from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. All who are working in this area are welcome—whether operating from home or within a salon.
By fostering awareness and equipping salon professionals with the right information, this initiative aims to create safer spaces within the community, where individuals facing these challenges can find help and hope.
This training session will be delivered by experts in the field and is open to all salon professionals. For further details and to register you and your teams please follow link below:
