A public meeting will take place in Inishowen on Thursday night to discuss a proposed International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS) Centre.
As reported on Donegal Daily on Monday, concerns were raised over plans to use the former Strand Hotel (main pic), Ballyliffin, to house asylum seekers.
Sinn Deputy, Padraig MacLochlainn, was informed by the Department of Justice that the hotel is ‘no longer under consideration’ as an accommodation centre. However, the current owners of the building have a planning application with Donegal County Council seeking permission for a ‘change of use’.
The public meeting will take place in St Mary’s Hall, Clonmany, at 8pm on Thursday.
A social media post from, Ballyliffin/Clonmany Community Alert, stated that ‘urgent action is needed.’
