With the pleasant weather expected to last into early next week, the Donegal Mountain Rescue Team (DMRT) has issued some useful tips for walkers and hikers.
The volunteers provide an emergency response, remote environment and extreme terrain, search and rescue service for the county.
The useful tips include:
– Bring more water than you think you need
– Pack a sun hat and sunscreen
– Check weather forecasts before leaving
– Consider packing layers even if it’s warm (wind chill at height)
– Tell someone where you’re going and when you’ll return
– Keep your phone charged with a portable charger
“Stay safe and enjoy Donegal’s lovely trails,” a DMRT spokesperson said.
The team is composed completely of volunteers who are on 24 hour call, 365 days of the year. To make a donation, go to their iDonate page via the following link: https://www.idonate.ie/cause/donegalmrt
