Plans have been lodged with Donegal County Council to raze two derelict Castlefin houses to make way for 17 residential units.

The application has been submitted in the name of Mr Unit Ltd (directors Jay Dolan & Geoffrey Dolan) for the properties in the centre of the town, on the main Lifford road.

The proposal includes 13 new houses and four apartments on the large site.

The council is due to make a decision on the application by the end of June.
