The Counter Deli in Letterkenny is once again opening bright and (very) early this Saturday morning for a special fundraiser for Pieta.
The cafe will throw open its doors at 5am to perk up walkers who are taking part in Darkness Into Light.
After the walk (which commences at 4.15am at ATU Letterkenny), the cafe staff will be on hand to provide plenty of New Kid coffees, teas and treats to beat the yawns. All proceeds will be donated to Pieta, a charity very close to their hearts.
They shared the invite to all on social media: “We’d do nearly ANYTHING to get out of having to do a walk in the middle of the night-so when the night calls for actually getting up to walk for a fantastic cause that is close to our hearts we had to find a very good reason to try and stay awake. And New Kid Coffee is a good excuse!
“So we will be here with the cafe open bright and early for when you finish your walk-as always we will donate the proceeds from all coffee and tea sales for the day to Pieta House. We also have a donation bucket out for the weekend if anyone would like to donate. See you all round 5am Saturday!”
The Counter will close again around 6.30/7am (when everyone has had their coffee) then open at the normal time of 9.30am. To give staff a chance to rest up, they will close at the earlier time of 4pm (kitchen closing at 3.15pm).
Darkness Into Light takes place in 13 locations across Donegal Saturday, May 10th at 4:15am.
Late registration for Darkness Into Light Letterkenny takes place at An Danlann, ATU Letterkenny, on Friday, May 9th, from 5pm to 7pm.
