A major search and rescue operation is underway in Inishowen this evening.
Donegal Daily understands that a number of people may have gotten into difficulty in the water in the Lisfannon area.
The alarm was raised just over an hour ago, with members of the Coast Guard and the Rescue 118 helicopter deployed to the scene.
When contacted for comment, the Malin Head Coastguard Centre said they could not comment on the nature of the incident as it is currently an ongoing matter.
An Garda Siochana have also confirmed their involvement in the ongoing rescue operation this evening.
“Gardaí and emergency services are currently engaged in a search and rescue operation off the coast of Buncrana in Co. Donegal this afternoon, Saturday 10th May 2025,” they said.
“Garda units from Donegal North are involved in this operation, alongside the Coast Guard and ambulance services.”
“The search remains ongoing. No further information is available at this time.”
