A Buncrana man has been sent forward for trial on charges including making threats to kill, criminal damage and assault causing harm.
Francis McDonagh will now go before Letterkenny Circuit Court after he appeared at Buncrana District Court.
The 27-year-old, of Earlsfort, Buncrana, is currently in custody at Castlerea Prison and was brought to Buncrana courthouse by prison officers.
Garda Tomas McMahon gave evidence of serving a book of evidence on McDonagh.
Sergeant Emmet Brady told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has consented to McDonagh being sent forward to the next sitting of Letterkenny District Court on the six charges.
McDonagh is charged with threatening to damage property in a way which he knew was likely to endanger the life of a woman. The charge, relating to an incident at Earlsfort, Buncrana between November 24, 2024 and December 1, 2024, is contrary to section 3 of the Criminal Damage Act, 1991.
McDonagh faces a charge of making a threat to kill or cause serious harm to a man. The charge is contrary to section 5 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
He is also charged with making a threat to kill or cause serious harm to another woman.
He is charged with assaulting a man and causing him harm.
McDonagh is also charged with two offences contrary to section 2 (1) of the Criminal Damage Act, 1991, namely that he damaged windows and the body of a vehicle and that he damaged two windows of a house, both relating to an incident at Earlsfort, Buncrana on December 1, 2024.
The accused was represented by solicitor, Mr Rory O’Brien.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham made an order returning McDonagh for trial, administered the alibi warning and made a section 56 order relating to tapes of interviews.
Legal aid was granted to Mr O’Brien and one legal counsel was assigned in the case.
