Staff at the Ballyliffin Hotel are showing their generosity by promising to donate their tips to help rebuild the Doagh Famine Village.
Any and all tips they are receiving this weekend will go directly towards fundraising efforts to rebuild the historic Inishowen tourist attraction.
A notice posted in the hotel this weekend reads as follows:
“Dear Guests and Customers, in support of Pat, Majella and family in light of the recent fire at Doagh Famine Village, the staff of the Ballyliffin Hotel have decided to donate all gratuities and tips received this weeekend to the rebuild fund.”
“Your generosity and support to us, the staff is greatly appreciated as always.”
The fire ripped through approximately half of the Famine Village just over a week ago, causing extensive damage to many of the exhibits and priceless artefacts stored within that had been kindly donated over the years.
Two sections of the village were fully destroyed, with owners Pat and Majella Doherty left counting the cost as they were unable to get insurance cover for the historic thatch buildings.
An official online fundraiser has raised €88,000 which will go directly towards the rebuilding effort.
