The Minister for Housing James Browne will visit Donegal today.
The Fianna Fáil TD will meet with defective concrete block campaigners as part of his schedule of engagements.
The Mica Action Group is preparing to highlight the county’s most serious housing issues to Minister Browne.
In a message to members, they said: “We would have preferred the Housing Minister to meet with an audience of impacted homeowners as we have requested on many occasions. We will, however, do our utmost to clearly impress upon the new Housing Minister the serious issues that prevail with the DCB Scheme, and that with a determined political will, such issues can be resolved.”
Since his election, there have been repeated calls for the new Housing Minister to visit Donegal and see the DCB crisis first-hand.
Last month, county councillors of the 100% Redress Party staged a walkout from a meeting in protest over the minister’s lack of response to their calls for a visit.
100% Redress Party TD Charles Ward echoed their campaign in the Dáil, where he said there is a “complete disconnect between the Department of Housing in Dublin and Donegal”.
“The lack of action by the Council and by the Minister for Housing on housing issues in Donegal, particularly on the defective concrete crisis, is extremely frustrating,” said Deputy Ward.
