Gardaí are appealing for information after a woman smashed a window in a Dungloe takeaway at the weekend.

The incident occurred on Saturday night/Sunday morning. The woman had just been served food when she kicked a chair on the way out. As a result, the front window of the premises was smashed.

“Maybe the woman in question might come forward,” said Garda Niall Maguire.

Anyone with information should contact Dungloe Garda Station on (074) 952 1000.

Meanwhile, Garda Maguire added, they are seeing an increase in the rate of broken windows locally.

He said there have been eight incidents this week alone, involving attacks on vehicles and properties.

“This type of damage is casual and easy to commit, but people are being caught,” he said.

“However, this is a very serious issue for the victim, as often broken windows are not covered by insurance, meaning they are left to foot the bill.”
