A young woman charged in connection with an incident in which a man received stab wounds during an incident in Ballybofey has been sent forward to stand trial.
Nadia Blake, aged 26, of Booragh, Ramelton appeared before Letterkenny District Court where a book of evidence was served in relation to an incident at Navenny Street, Ballybofey, on October 16, 2024.
Blake is charged with three counts of producing an article capable of inflicting serious injury during the course of a dispute and with robbery.
She is charged with producing a screwdriver, a wooden slat of bed and a glass. The charges are contrary to section 1 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act, 1990.
She is also charged with robbery. She is alleged to have stolen property, to wit, a 50 inch television, a Playstation 4 console and controller and a portable speaker, the property of Stephen Doherty. The charge is Contrary to Section 14 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001.
Garda Gillian Page gave evidence of serving the book on the accused. Blake made no reply when cautioned.
Sergeant Jim Collins confirmed that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has consented to Blake being sent forward for trial on four charges.
Noting that the book was already served, Judge Éiteáin Cunningham made an order returning Blake for trial. The alibi warning was administered and a section 56 order, relating to tapes of interviews, was made.
Legal aid was granted to Blake’s solicitor, Mr Rory O’Brien, and one legal counsel was assigned.
Bail was granted on the same terms, which include that she stay out of Ballybofey and Stranorlar.
A previous sitting of the court heard that a man has “very possibly” been left with life-changing injuries following the incident at a property on Navenny Street at around 9pm on October 16.
A co-accused, Tristan McAteer, has been sent forward on a signed guilty plea in relation to the same incident.
Last month, the 26-year-old, of no fixed abode, who has been charged with assault causing harm and with theft. McAteer, who is in custody, appeared before the court to confirm his signed plea.
McAteer was charged that he assaulted one Stephen Doherty causing him harm. The charge is Contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
He was also charged that on the same date and at the same location he did steal property – a 50 inch television, a Playstation 4 console and controller and a portable speaker, the property of Stephen Doherty. The charge is Contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001.
