Cllr Michael McClafferty elected as new Cathaoirleach of Glenties

Independent Councillor Michael McClafferty has been elected as the new Cathaoirleach of the Glenties Municipal District.

The Falcarragh representative was elected to the role at Tuesday’s AGM, taking over the chain of office from Sinn Féin Cllr John Sheamais O’Fearraigh

Cllr Anthony Molloy was elected as Leas Cathaoirleach of the district for the forthcoming year.

This is Cllr McClafferty’s second time as Cathaoirleach, having previously held the position in 2023.
