Donegal County Council has been urged to take action on the constant threat of traffic accidents on the doorstep of a family home near Manorcunningham.
A home at the Corkey junction of the old Letterkenny Road has had to deal with numerous frightening incidents of cars crashing into their property.
The council has heard that, across four recent accidents, the house was hit on two occasions, costing almost €30,000 in damages.
On the second occasion, a vehicle tore through the wall of a garage.

On two other occasions, it’s reported that a car overturned on the other side of the road. In another incident, a car crashed into another house adjacent to the property.
Mayor of Letterkenny-Milford MD, Cllr Gerry McMonagle, raised the issue at Tuesday’s MD meeting and called for a crash barrier to be installed.
After visiting the family, he said: “We saw how busy the junction is and how fast the cars were travelling.”
“If a crash barrier was not a plausible prevention measure, the least we could do is put ramps in place,” Cllr McMonagle told the council.
Cllr McMonagle said that a crash barrier and ramps would be “double insurance” to prevent any potentially serious accidents.
Councillor Jimmy Kavanagh seconded the motion, commenting, “We can’t expect a family to put up with that. When you go to your bed at night, you hope that yourself and the house will be there in the morning.”
The Letterkenny-Milford MD Road Section is due to carry out traffic and speed surveys at this junction in the near future.
A spokesperson confirmed that “After these surveys have been completed an assessment will be carried out to establish what measures are required.”
