A grant of €10,000 has been allocated to allow the full reopening of the Bluestack Way following damage caused by Storm Éowyn.

The funding was announced by Minister Dara Calleary under the Walks Scheme Development Fund to support and enhance the above walkway.

The funding will be used to remove blocking and dangerous trees along route following Storm Éowyn to reopen the Bluestack Way in its entirety again.

Local Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher, who is a big advocate of walking, has welcomed the announcement.

He said it is hoped that the walkway will reopen when the works are carried out.

The news has also been warmly welcomed by local councillors Michael Naughton and Anthony Molloy.
