Donegal Town residents invited to share views on potential arts centre

A newly-formed development group in Donegal Town is seeking input from the community on the potential for an arts, culture and entertainment centre in Donegal Town.

The Northwestern Development Partnership, formed by 25 local residents, business owners, and community leaders, has set out to “develop Donegal Town in a way that places the needs of the community at the heart of every decision”.

In order to ensure that any new cultural developments reflect the values and interests of the people who would benefit most from them, the group has launched a survey to assess interest in the creation of an arts and culture centre.

“We believe that the future of Donegal’s development should be inclusive, with every voice heard. This survey is just the first step as we start to address key areas of growth and community development over the coming months and years,” said Lorraine McCafferty, spokesperson for the Northwestern Development Partnership.

“We want to hear from as many people as possible, whether they are artists, culture enthusiasts, or local residents who simply want to see their town thrive with more opportunities for creativity and community engagement.”

The survey is open to all members of the Donegal Town community and its surrounding areas and can be accessed online at THIS LINK. The deadline for survey submissions is June 2025.

The Northwestern Development Partnership is committed to conducting further surveys and consultations in the coming months to gather input on other crucial aspects of Donegal’s development.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to shape a future that reflects the wishes of the people,” added Lorraine McCafferty. “This is just the beginning, and we look forward to sharing more exciting initiatives with the community in the near future.”
