An upgrade is on the way for a broken boardwalk accessing Trá an Rossan near Downings.
Access issues at the scenic beach on the Rosguill peninsula came up for discussion at this week’s meeting of the Letterkenny-Milford MD.
Councillor Liam Blaney said that the beach is ‘near impossible’ due to the current state of the pathway.
“To say it’s not fit for purpose for the elderly and disabled would be completely wrong, because there are a lot of fit people that can’t access it either,” Cllr Blaney told the council this week.
Cllr Blaney’s call for upgrade works to be done before the summer months was echoed by Cllr Pauric McGarvey, who said that access to the beach is vitally important at this time of year.
Cllr Blaney welcomed the response from Donegal County Council, which said that the beach management team is aware of issues with the boardwalk access at Trá na
Rossan and is currently in the process of procuring a contractor to carry out
necessary upgrade works.
