A youthful Finn Harps played out a scoreless draw away to Longford Town last night in the SSE Airtricity League First Division.

The result brings to an end a disappointing run of defeats for the Donegal side. It lifts Kevin McHugh’s charges into seventh place, ahead of last night’s opponents on goal difference.

By all accounts, it was a drab affair with very few scoring chances, however young Gavin McAteer again was hugely impressive for the visitors.

Harps welcome UCD to Finn Park next Friday night.

Finn Harps: Oisin Cooney; Joel Bradley Walsh, Josh Cullen, Kevin Jordan, Joel Thompson (Adam McDaid 76); Gradi Lomboto (Patrick Ferry 69), Gavin McAteer, Tony McNamee, William Olamipo Oduwa; Gavin Hodgins, Aaron McLaughlin.

Subs not used: Corey Sheridan, Anthony Dodd, Gavin Gilmore, Shane O’Gara.
