Donegal Airport has been awarded €346,000 for investment in capital works.
The funding from the Department of Transport will allow for projects to enhance safety and efficiency at the airport through upgrades to navigation aids, air traffic control systems, security equipment, and wildlife management.
Projects will also support the airport’s sustainability goals through renewable energy solutions and funding the renewal of its Level 4 Carbon Accreditation.
Donegal Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher, who used the airport this morning, said: “Donegal Airport is of major importance to the business, social, culture life of the region. The airport is extensively used by patients travelling to Dublin for medical appointments. Many students from Donegal also use the service travelling to Dublin.
“I travelled on the flight this morning and the plane was practically full. I would be calling on the minister at a later stage to provide for operational funding.”
