The Lifford community is mourning the passing of a well-known local businessman, Stephen Martin, following a workplace accident.

Stephen, from Carricknaslate, passed away in Beaumont Hospital last Wednesday 14th May, following an incident earlier this month.

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Authority said that they are aware of the incident and an investigation has been launched.

Stephen was the well-regarded owner of Martin Tyres, which was established by his late father, Eamon ‘Brock’ Martin at Bridge Street.

Stephen is predeceased by his father and his beloved son, the talented singer-songwriter Stevie Martin (also known as Rainy Boy Sleep), who passed away in 2016.

He is survived by his loving children, Sean, Sinead, Sara, and Cara, his cherished grandchildren River, Roman, and Juliette, his mother Rae, and his brothers Eamon J and John.

Funeral details are as follows:

Reposing at Quigley’s Funeral Home on Tuesday (May 20th) from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Service in the funeral home on Wednesday (May 21st) at 11.30 a.m.

Private cremation afterwards in Lakelands Crematorium.

Deeply regretted by his sorrowing son, daughters, grandchildren, mother, brothers and family circle.

May he rest in peace.
