Tributes paid to Donegal man killed in road collision in Galway

A Donegal man who lost his life in a three-car collision in Galway has been named locally as father-of-two Aidan Mc Nern.

Mr Mc Nern from Dunkineely, aged in his 40s, passed away from his injuries in hospital shortly after the incident on the outskirts of Galway city on Sunday afternoon. 

Aidan had been living in Galway for a number of years.

He is predeceased by his father, Eamon Mc Nern, who passed away in a drowning accident at Bruckless Pier in 2023.

He is survived by his loving family, his mother Caroline, his daughters Grace and Ciara and their mum Annmarie, his twin brother Gordan (Laura), his sister Lisa (Martin). Sadly missed by his aunts, uncles, niece and nephews, and all his relatives, neighbours and friends.

A tribute from the local Naomh Ultan GAA club said: “Aidan’s close and extended family have long been deeply involved with our club, and his loss is felt profoundly throughout our community. His presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this very difficult time.”

Funeral Details for Aidan Mc Nern 209 Castleview, Dunkineely, Co Donegal and Galway:

His remains will repose at his family home in Castleview tomorrow Wednesday from 2p.m until rosary at 9pm and on Thursday from 2p.m until rosary at 9pm.

Funeral from there on Friday Morning at 11.30a.m The Church Of St Joseph and Conal Bruckless for 12 noon Requiem mass with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
