Two boys have been injured, one seriously, in an incident involving an e-scooter in Co Cavan.

The incident occurred on the N87 near Black Ridge roundabout, just south of Ballyconnell town centre, at around 7.15pm yesterday evening.

One boy was airlifted to Children’s Health Ireland at Temple Street in Dublin with serious injuries.

The second boy, believed to be aged in his teens, was taken to Cavan General Hospital, with non-life threatening injuries.

The road remains closed this morning to allow for a technical examination to take place and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí said that investigations in the incident are ongoing.
