The busy A5 Road has been shut in both directions this afternoon following a serious collision.

Diversions are currently in place for travellers on the closed stretch, between Omagh and Newtownstewart and near the American Folk Park.

A notice was issued by the Folk Park to visitors via social media this afternoon.

“There has been a road traffic collision on the main road to the Folk Park from the Omagh direction. You may experience delays on your way to Bluegrass Omagh.”

“It’s an evolving situation, we’re engaged with emergency services on the scene and we’ll keep you up to date as much as we can.”

The serious accident is the latest in a long list of collisions on the A5, which serves as an arterial route for any Donegal drivers wishing to make their way to Dublin.
