Here are all of the match reports and results from this week’s Donegal Women’s League games.

DWL 9 aside senior Match Reports 19/05/2025
Drumbar United 1-0 Deele Harps
Deele Harps started the game on the front foot, testing Drumbar’s rearguard early on, however the girls stood strong & were in no mood to concede goals tonight. It took the home team a while to settle into the game, but when they did, it was worth waiting for! The passing and attacking play were fantastic to watch. Although dominating large periods of the game, the Drumbar ladies found Deele extremely tough to break down defensively, and goalkeeper Louise Coyle was in fine form, stopping a lot of Drumbar’s attacks. The home team’s patience & persistence to keep going to the very end of the game paid off with a well-worked goal in the dying minutes. A short corner kick from quick-thinking Emma O’ Doherty to Shauna Gallagher, who in turn played a low cross into the box to the feet of Emily Slator. Emily steadied herself and finished with composure to the bottom right of the Deele goal. Nothing less than the ladies deserved on the night. Well done to both teams on a tough but very fair battle. Goal Scorer: Emily Slator

Letterkenny Rovers 4-0 Lagan Harps
Letterkenny Rovers secured an impressive home win over Lagan Harps at the Aura Centre this evening, with a strong second-half performance sealing the result. The first half was evenly contested, with both sides creating chances. Molly Page opened the scoring for the hosts after latching onto a precise through ball from Mia Devenney. Page showed great composure to slip past a Lagan defender and finish neatly from close range. Lagan came close to drawing level before the break, but Nadine Crawford’s effort narrowly cleared the crossbar. Rovers took control in the second half. Gemma McFadden doubled the lead with a tidy finish before Ashling Mugan added a third. McFadden then capped off the evening with her second goal, rounding off a good team performance. Erin Duffy stood out for Letterkenny with a solid display, while Sinead McLoughlin posed a constant threat for Lagan Harps.

Bonagee United 1-0 Fanad United
The match was played in Goose Green this evening with both teams having a lot to play for, as both teams were at the top of the table. Bonagee played some great football out the back into midfield but found it difficult to get a break on the attack several times as Fanad’s defending by Michelle was top class, catching Bonagee’s Natalie McFadden offside a number of times. The game was solid with both teams working hard and no real chances in the first half for anyone. In the second half Bonagee’s Eimear Sweeney hit a long, powerful shot but only for a outstanding save by the young Fanad keeper to keep it at 0-0. Fanad won a corner and was a free header for Rachel Friel but just put it wide. Bonagee had a chance with Natalie McFadden playing a cross to Chloe Creevey, but Chloe hit the post, and the ball was cleared. Bonagee made a few changes on the team, and straight away Orla McBride made an impact up front. She had great chances, but again the young fanad keeper stood her ground. But 4 mins from the end, a long ball from Bonagee captain and goalkeeper Niamh Mailey found McBride, who went one-on-one and slotted home to get the all-important 3 points for Bonagee. Both clubs showed great sportsmanship and put on a great match for everyone.

Raphoe Town 0-2 Keadue Rovers
Two goals in a five-minute spell in the first half proved to be the difference on Monday night as Keadue Rovers took the points against Raphoe Town in a hard-fought game at Drumineney. The home side made all the early running, but the visitors were always dangerous on the break, and they made the most of one such breakaway in the 15th minute when Amy Hanna nipped in to steer the ball home with a well-taken goal to the delight of the visiting team. They doubled their lead a few minutes later, this time Erika Hanna finding the net with a bsuper strike to the top corner from long range, and from then on it was a long way back for Raphoe, who came closest in the first half with a free kick from Orlaith Connolly that flew past the post. As always, Raphoe emptied the bench to ensure more valuable game time for all players, and they competed well in the second half without ever really looking as if they’d get back on terms. The closest they came was from an Aimee Lafferty shot that sailed over early in the second half, while Aimee Kelly made a couple of good saves as Keadue sought to add to their tally. However, in the end, the two first-half goals were enough to send them back home happy with the win. Good team performances from both sides.

DWL U14 Match Reports 19/05/2025
Group 1:

Glenea United 3-1 Gweedore United
Glenea hosted Gweedore United at the PCC pitch on Monday evening in a well-contested match, with both sides showing quality throughout. Glenea started strongly, with Cáit, Jenny, band Áine controlling the midfield and Emma Brogan and Aimee putting pressure on the Gweedore defence. Fiadh worked hard on the wing, helping to keep Gweedore’s attacks at bay. Emma Brogan opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Gweedore pushed back, but Glenea’s defence, led by Lucy and Orlaith, held firm. Minnie Coyle made some important saves, though Neasa Diver did level the match with a great finish. Glenea responded immediately, as Aimee marked her birthday with a brilliant goal to restore the lead. The introduction of Orlaith B and Hannah added energy to the Glenea side. In the second half, Glenea continued to dominate. Annie Geaney and Molly Friel drove forward with purpose, while Áine Mangan impressed in midfield with some dazzling play. Gweedore’s Ciara McFadden tried to create chances but was closed down quickly by Glenea’s midfield trio. The final goal came from Lucy Doohan, who fired a stunning strike from outside the box into the top corner. Minnie Coyle added energy in the closing stages, almost setting up another. For Gweedore, Ciara McFadden and Sheena Ferry were standout performers, but Glenea earned the win through a strong all-round team display.

DWL U16 Match Reports 19/05/2025
Division 2:
Raphoe Town 3-0 Glenree Academy
Both teams started cautiously, but Raphoe soon settled, and with some good play saw bforward Nakitta Frizzell break through only for Glenree’s backline to sharply react. Saoirse Deasley in midfield worked a great ball wide to Cara O’Connell, who struck a thunderous ball into the left top corner. Glenree were still a threat, though, with some long balls over the top, but our backline of bLucy, Brooke, Jenna, and Hollie were well able to clean up any danger. Glenree won a number of throws down the flanks as they pushed to get into our box. Quick reactions saw a few good counterattacks for us with Leah Holmes setting away winger Ellen Carlin and midfielder Eva Kelly. In the second half, Raphoe continued to maintain the pressure and were rewarded when Leah Holmes shot from around the 25-yard mark, lobbing the keeper to get our second. A well-deserved third came when Emily Maxwell, Eva Kelly, and Katie Melarkey combined well to set up Saoirse, who fired in another long-range shot over the Glenree Keeper. Glenree’s Bridget Carr had a great game as she cleared away any of our through balls. Katie Melarkey, Eva Kelly, and Emily Maxwell were all unlucky not to have connected. Two solid performances from Tory McCarron and Cara O’Connell, who stood in as goalkeepers tonight, and a big thank you to them for that. Three nil and a well-earned three points. Well done to both teams on a competitive game.

DWL U12 Match Reports 20/05/2025
Group 1:
St Catherines 0-0 Drumbar United

Group 2:
Keadue Rovers 1-1 Dunfanaghy Youths
Another sunny evening in Central Park as Keadue welcomed Dunfanaghy Youths, which bresulted in a cracking end to end match. Keadue got out of the blocks fast, and a great move involving Tilda McGarvey, Fia Ham, and a through ball from Katie Gillespie found Kathlynn O’Donnell who made no mistake from close range within the first minute. Keadue kept pressing, but for some good defending and superb goalkeeping, the scoreline remained the same. Dunfanaghy played some good football at times, and they were very dangerous with long balls sent over the home defence. Keadue started the second half strong and were denied on numerous occasions in the first 10 minutes. Both teams continued to play great football and created chances at both ends. Midway through the half, a mix-up in the Keadue defence led to Clara Ward Duffy to capitalise and finish with a great strike, giving Robyn Duffy in the home goal no chance. It was end to end from there on in from both sides, but neither team could get the winner. Thanks to Dunfanaghy for making it a very competitive game, and we wish you well for the rest of the season. Thanks to Sean O’Donnell for reffing the match.

Gweedore Celtic vs Gweedore United (Gweedore United Win)

Kilmacrennan Celtic 5-2 Glenree
It was another beautiful evening at Lurgy Park when Kilmac u12s hosted the Glenree girls. Kilmac started the game brightly with Aoibhinn Hegarty pouncing on a short Glenree kickout to poke the ball home for Kilmac’s first goal. Aoibhinn was on the mark again with a stunning shot, swinging the ball to the top right of the net from wide on the left-hand side. Glenree settled into the game then with Darcy Coyle defending strongly for Glenree. Lilly Friel and Erin Caldwell combined well to push forward for Glenree testing the Kilmac defence. Caoimhe McKinney used her experience with good support from Grace McGarvey and Katie Gillespie to keep the Glenree attack out. Glenree Keeper Clarach Walsh was unfortunate to drop an excellent Aoibhinn Hegarty corner in over her line to make it 3-0 for Kilmac. Glenree rallied though, and Lilly Friel scored a nice goal for Glenree just before halftime. Glenree started the second half well and attacked the Kilmac defence, however Hannah Rose McGlynn and Clodagh McBride worked well to dispossess Glenree, with Clodagh taking a well-placed 4th goal for Kilmac. Hayley Callaghan Carter and Eimear Gallagher worked their socks off in midfield for Kilmac throughout the game, and Hayley scored a lovely goal on 49 minutes. Erin Caldwell scored Glenree’s second and the final goal of the game, which capped off a fine performance from her. Well done to both teams, who played some excellent football and kept the crowd entertained. Thanks and well done to Referee Eunan Brolly for allowing a good sporting game.

Group 3:
Bonagee United 2-4 Illistrin As
A six-goal thriller unfolded at Goose Green with Illistrin taking all 3 points. Eve McElwaine got Illistrin off to a flying start after 4 minutes when she pounced on a loose ball and calmly slotted home. Illistrin went close not long later, but Amelia Gallagher pulled off a fantastic double save to keep the score at one nil. McElwaine then doubled her tally on 13 minutes after a great run down the right. Ava Rice then made it 3 a couple of minutes later. Bonagee pushed to get one back before the break, but Amelia McLaughlin stood tall in the Illistrin defence. Bonagee came out firing in the second half, with Gráinne Kelly getting a goal back 5 minutes after the restart. Eve McElwaine and Chloe Callaghan were constant threats for Illistrin, but Ava Price and Ruby Patton made some vital challenges. Gráinne Kelly got her and Bonagees second after she latched onto a long kickout and made no mistake in front of goal. Eve McElwaine got her hat trick when she was the quickest to react to a loose ball inside the box to seal all 3 points for Illistrin. A great game for the viewers with Eve McElwaine and Amelia McLaughlin standing out for Illistrin and Gráinne Kelly and Ava Price showing well for Bonagee. Thanks to the match official Rory O’Gorman, who was the man in the middle.

Kildrum Tigers 4-0 Cappry Rovers Bs
The game started very even, with both teams creating chances. Cappry almost took the lead but for a fine save from Alana Hannigan. Kildrum then took the the lead when Evie Gallagher found Aine Bovaird, whose shot from distance found the net. Shortly after Aine Bovaird picked the ball up on the halfway line, and after a strong run, she shot high over the keeper and into the net. Priya Crawford scored Kildrum’s 3rd midway through the second half when she was found by Evie Gallagher and shot low past the keeper, and Aoibhe Brennan rounded off the scoring with a fine run and shot. Cappry finished the game strongly only for Jessica McCrossan to deny them on three occasions. Aine Bovaird, Evie Gallagher, and Emily Toland had standout games for Kildrum. Thanks to Cappy for travelling and to Patrick Martin, our ref.

Lagan Harps vs Finn Valley Predators (Lagan Win)
Lagan proved too strong for a young Finn Valley side. They got off to a quick start with goals from Caoimhe Sweeney and Ava Crockett in the first five minutes. Amy Cooper had a few dangerous runs for Finn Valley, but Amanda Caldwell cut out most of the attacks. Katie Gildea and Mia Doherty added two more for Lagan before halftime. Finn Valley battled hard in the second half, but as they tired in the heat, towards the end Lagan added further goals through Mia Doherty, Caoimhe Sweeney, Katherine Weston, and Ellie Rodgers.

Ballyraine Harps 1-4 Convoy Arsenal

Group 4:

Illistrin Bs vs Ballyraine As (Ballyraine Win)

Milford United 1-1 Mulroy Academy
A tightly contested contest from start to finish. The match started end to end, but it was Mulroy that scored the opening goal when Zara Walsh scored on the 18th minute. Milford then upped the tempo and scored a fine goal with Lucy Peoples the goal scorer, 1 all at the break. Milford started well in the second half but couldn’t get the breakthrough, missing a few good opportunities. Mulroy had a couple of chances on the counterattack, but the Milforddefence held firm. Mulroy held on for a draw. Well done to both teams who battled right to the end. In the end, a fair result.

Letterkenny Rovers 0-2 Finn Valley Gaels
Our under-12s finished their first round of league games, losing out to Finn Valley 0:2. A game where Rovers dominated for long periods but were unable to make the breakthrough, and against the run of play, Finn Valley’s Saoirse McMenamin opened the scoring with a well-taken goal just before halftime. The second half continued like the first Roves had chances but no luck in front of goal. As Rovers pushed for an equaliser, we had to be awake at the back as Finn Valley nearly grabbed a second. With 9 minutes to go, Amelia McGahern took advantage of a mix-up in defence and slotted the ball home calmly with a good finish. Rovers never gave up and continued to press to the very end. Both teams made outstanding efforts in very warm conditions.

Finn Valley 2-0 Illistrin
On another fine evening Finn Valley ladies played host to Illistrin FC ladies. From the first whistle Finn Valley got on the front foot with great play in the midfield with Finn Valley winning the battle for the ball and on the stroke of 5 mins Brooke Bryne got a though ball into the path of young Rebecca Gallen who cut inside the Illistrin defence and calmly slotted the ball past the oncoming Illistrin goalkeeper into the far corner of the net. Finn Valley kept pushing for a second goal and getting some half chances with Mia McMullin shooting from the edge of the box only for a save by the Illistrin goalkeeper. Finally Finn Valley got their second goal of the game in the 37th when Brooke Byrne latched onto a loose ball in the box after a corner and she put a powerful shot past the goalkeeper at the near post. Half time Finn Valley 2 – 0 Illistrin FC. The second half started and Finn Valley pushed forward for more goals but the Illistrin defence held firm from the menace of Ella Udoku and Mia McMullin leading the charge up front. DWL U14 Match Reports 23/05/2025
Group 1:
Kilmacrennan Celtic 2-1 Gweedore Celtic
Lurgy Park was the venue this evening, and despite the damp conditions, both teams served up an entertaining game, with Kilmacrenan emerging victorious on a 2-1 scoreline. After a slow opening 5 minutes, it was Gweedore who took the lead. A good move down the left and the crossed ball eluded the Kilmac back line, and up popped Enya Logue at the back post to tap home. The home team got on the front foot after this, and Aoibhinn Hegarty, Caidhla Conlon, and Aynee McMullan all had chances to equalise, but the half ended with the visitors in front, with Nell nic Grianna particularly impressive at the heart of defence. The 2nd half saw Kilmacrennan continue to dominate the ball, and just 3 minutes in they equalised when an excellent pass from Jorjamae found its way across to Caidhla, and she made no mistake to fire home 1st time into the far corner. Just 2 minutes later kilmacrenan were in front; another excellent pass from Roise McBride found Aoibhinn who continued her goalscoring streak, finding the net for what proved to be the winning goal. Gweedore continued to battle hard but found the Kilmac defence a tough nut to crack, marshalled brilliantly again by captain Kaytlin Fay and ably supported by Cara, Amber, Eimear, and Orlaith. Gweedore were well served by Enya and Nell, with a good all-round team performance by Kilmacrennan. Referee Paddy McCauley had another solid game in the middle.
