Three people were killed in separate road crashes in the span of less than 24 hours yesterday.
All three of the victims were women, two of them killed while walking, and the other killed while cycling.
The first incident took place at Toonagh, County Clare, when shortly before 1pm a cyclist aged in her 70s was struck by a tractor. She was pronouned dead at the scene.
The second woman killed yesterday was aged in her 20s.
She was struck by a car in Enniscorthy, County Wexford at around 3pm. Emergency services rushed her to Wexford General Hospital in a serious condition, where she later died.
Another woman, aged in her 60s, was killed when she was struck by a car near Ashbourne, County Meath shortly after 7pm.
She was pronounced dead at the scene,
The driver and passenger of the car involved, both men aged in their 20s, were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
