An inspiring eight-year-old Donegal boy has raised thousands for his school’s autism needs classroom by climbing Errigal mountain.
Shay Cannon, a non-verbal First Class student at Scoil Fhionáin in Falcarragh, braved the elements on Saturday to give back to the ASD class that has played such a vital role in his development.
Shay was accompanied by a supportive team, including his teacher Keevagh Ni Dhónaill, his two Special Needs Assistants Marie and Gracie, and his principal, Steven Cannon. His proud parents, Bridin and Ciaran, along with family friends, also joined him every step of the way.

Shay’s mother, Bridin, shared her immense pride, stating, “We are all so incredibly proud of Shay’s achievement. Nothing can stop this little boy.”
Shay has now raised over €4,500 for the ASD classroom at Scoil Fhionáin.
Bridin added: “We would love to give back so other children with additional needs can all benefit from Shay’s climb with sensory toys for their classroom.”
