The HSE is currently in negotiations with Donegal Council over the planned purchase of a site for the new Lifford Community Hospital.
The matter was raised at today’s meeting of the HSE West Forum by Councillor Gary Doherty.
The plans include a 25-bed Community Nursing Unit alongside a 3,000sqm Primary Care Centre to be built alongside a multi-million euro redevelopment of fields at Lifford Common.
The HSE’s Assistant National Director, Capital & Estates, Niall Colleary, said the proposed development has been included on the Capital Plan 2025 and has been granted capital allocation to progress feasibility and Design.
“There are ongoing discussions and negotiations with Donegal County Council in relation to the purchase of land for the development and the completion of enabling works,” Mr Colleary said.
“The initial stages of appointing a suitable design team are underway. Once appointed, the design process will commence and will follow the appropriate steps for capital and statutory approvals in line with Capital Works Management Framework.”
