Donegal 0-12 v 6-11 Meath

Donegal’s minor footballers have been defeated in this afternoon’s Minor All-Ireland Championship B Semi-Final.

Meath scored an astonishing six goals in the contest held at the Athletic Ground in Armagh, as they set themselves up for a final date and a chance to lift the Paul McGirr Cup.

The first half of this fixture was more than competitive despite the final scoreline though, a penalty converted by Meath giving them a slender one-point advantage headed into the break – 0-10 to 1-08.

Donegal would also make a strong start to the second half, knocking over four scores to grab the lead by a point with twenty minutes to go.

However, a stunning scoring spree from Meath blew the game wide open as Donegal would fail to score a single point after temporarily grabbing the lead.

Two Meath goals in the span of five minutes gave Donegal a mountain to climb with just under ten minutes to play, a mountain that became insurmountable as Meath would add three further goals in the last five minutes of the contest to secure a decisive win.
