Former Irish Navy Captain to speak at Donegal Women in Business Network summer event

The Donegal Women in Business Network (DWIBN) will host a special Summer Solstice celebration on Thursday, 26 June 2025, at Oakfield Park, Raphoe.

This annual event brings together women in business from across the county to celebrate leadership, connection, and community.

The keynote speaker for the evening is Marie Gleeson (pictured), former Naval Commander and one of the first women to serve in the Irish Navy.

With over 20 years of leadership experience in high-performance environments, Marie will share insights on resilience, strategic thinking, and leading with purpose in challenging times.

Commenting ahead of the event, Marie Gleeson said: “I’m honoured to join the Donegal Women in Business Network for this special celebration. Events like this are vital in building strong networks, fostering mutual support, and empowering women to thrive – not only in business, but in every area of their lives.”

President of the Donegal Women in Business Network Sally Murphy, who will host a fireside chat with keynote speaker Marie Gleeson, Former Naval Commander, at the Summer Solstice event in Oakfield Park.

Sally Murphy, President of DWIBN, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Marie Gleeson to Donegal. I’ve been fortunate enough to hear Marie speak before – her story is not only inspiring, but deeply relevant to women at every stage of their careers. This event is about recognising our achievements, learning from one another, and moving forward with purpose and confidence.”

Attendees will enjoy an evening of inspiration, informal networking, light refreshments, and the opportunity to connect with like-minded women in the beautiful surroundings of Oakfield Park.

Oakfield Park is the location for the Donegal Women in Business Summer Solstice event on Thursday, 26th June

Founded in 1999, DWIBN has spent over 25 years supporting women in business throughout the county. From start-ups to seasoned entrepreneurs, the network offers events, workshops, and peer support to help women grow their businesses and professional confidence.
