Ulster Championships success for Rosses AC juveniles

Rosses AC Club Notes: 

The Ulster Championships took place in Finn Valley at the weekend for the children aged U9 to U13.

The club had 50+ children taking part and all performed really well with over 20 now qualified for the All Irelands.

Big well done to all and huge thanks to all the parents and coaches who helped with everything on the day.

Qualifiers to All Ireland – Pairs Qualified: U9 Girls – 300m – Mary Kate McDonald, Orla McDermott. Long jump – Mary Kate McDonald, Isabella Gallagher. Turbo – Aoife Sweeney, Orla McDermott.

U10 Boys: 500m – James McDonald, Xavier Gallagher. Turbo – Cillian Byrne, Tommy Sharkey.

U11 Girls – 600m – Isa Bonner, Katie Sharkey. Turbo – Isa Bonner, Lucy Brennan.

U11 Boys: Turbo – Emmett O Neill, Reuben Ward. Top 4 Qualified:

U12 – Shot – Taylor McCole 4th. James McGonagle 2nd. Turbo – James McGonagle 2nd.

U13 – Long jump – Caitlin Sweeney 2nd, Eveney Greene 3rd. High Jump – Rosie Breslin 1st, Katelyn O Donnell 3rd. Javelin – Katelyn O Donnell 1st, Robyn Duffy 3rd.

Relays:  u10 boys + – u11 girls. Last week the John Carlin Primary School Athletics

Award was presented to Rosie Breslin from Acres school for her excellent performances at the primary schools challenge finals days.

At the St Michael’s 5k Creeslough Maria Mulligan ran 18:10 and Caitlin O Donnell  21:42. James McGeehan was 1st M40 in 18:40 and Keith O’Connell 18:45.

Norman McClean won the M50 in 19:32 and Brendan McBride 1st M60 in 21:13.

Last week Noel O Donnell take part in the BHAA 5 miler in Dunboyne where he posted another quick time of 33:13.

The Scoil Chroine 5k saw Mark Ward win in 17:44 followed by Paul McKelvey in 18:49.

First female was Bernie Boyle in 19:31 and Angela Trimble 28:56. At the St.Ernan’s 5k Patrick Trimble finished first M50 in 18:22.

Also at the Sliabh Liag races David McKelvey won in the 5k uphill event.

The local road races come fast now and this weekend sees our u14 to u19 juveniles travel to Belfast for the Ulster T&F Championships.
