The Donegal Women’s Centre is set to welcome renowned decluttering expert Aidan Gately, Ireland’s first male KonMari Consultant for a special workshop.
Gately, known for his appearances on RTÉ’s Home Rescue: The Big Fix, will be supporting women who are healing from domestic abuse.
This powerful new initiative aims to help women in reconnecting with their living spaces and themselves through the transformative art of tidying up. Aidan, fresh from recording the eighth season of Home Rescue: The Big Fix, brings his unique blend of compassion and practical advice to Donegal.

With his support, women will engage in a transformative process using the KonMari Method of tidying through a mindful, intentional approach that fosters peace, safety, and joy at home.
“I have always felt that an untidy living space leads to a cluttered mind or perhaps it’s the other way around”, says Aidan Gately.
“Once I completed what Marie Kondo calls the Tidying Festival, my mind was at ease and I felt happier at home.”
The Donegal Women’s Centre recognises that for many women, especially those who have experienced domestic abuse, home may feel like a place of pain rather than peace. This initiative aims to change that narrative.
By working through their items with care, reflection, and respect, women will not only reclaim their physical space, but they’ll also begin to reclaim a sense of empowerment and personal clarity. This is not just about organising a room, it’s about healing through mindful action.
“The person you are supposed to be only shows up after tidying,” Aidan adds, capturing the transformative power of letting go.
Aidan Gately is one of only 600 KonMari consultants worldwide and was recently a featured panellist on a KonMari Consultant Training Course in London’s Excel Centre, alongside the Clean & Tidy Show, with Marie Kondo herself.
Participants will learn how to tidy by category, not location, making thoughtful decisions about what to keep based on what truly sparks joy. The result is a tidy, clutter free home that reflects peace and strength within.
This workshop is more than a clean-up. It’s a new beginning. Because every woman deserves to feel safe, supported, and joyful in her own home.
This programme is a result of a joint initiative between Donegal Women’s Centre and renowned Interior Designer Elaine FitzGerald of Eyra Interiors. Eyra Interiors provides expert, hands on guidance throughout the whole interior design process from initial plan analysis to adding the finishing touches transforming your house into a home.
The Donegal Women’s Centre looks forward to welcoming Aidan and Elaine, to support women in reclaiming joy and safety at home.
