Death mourned of beloved priest, ‘Fr. Billy’ McLaughlin

The peaceful death has taken place at the Nazareth House, Fahan of Monsignor William McLaughlin – fondly known as Fr. Billy, ‘Ad Fines Terrae’, Ardagh, Ballyliffin.

Msgr McLaughlin passed away at the age of 90.

Originally from Lewis Street in Rosemount, Derry, Msgr. McLaughlin had been living in Inishowen for a number of years.

He spent 20 years of his vocation in Los Angeles, where he became affectionately known as Father Bill while he served at Our Lady Queen of Angels in Newport.

Msgr McLaughlin is survived by his brothers Neil, Seán, and Colm, predeceased by his sister Mary, and his brothers Michael and Pat.

Deeply regretted by Seán’s partner Dácil, his nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Funeral Details: 

His remains will arrive at St. Mary’s Church, Cockhill, Wednesday at 1:00pm.
All are welcome to pay their respects on Wednesday from 1:00pm to 8:00pm and Thursday from 1:00pm to 8:00pm.

Funeral Mass will take place there at 11:00am on Friday morning followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
