Six new high-power electric vehicle (EV) recharging hubs are due to be installed in Donegal as part of a nationwide expansion of EV infrastructure.
An allocation of almost €8 million will be provided to support grants for recharging infrastructure at the selected sites, with chargers set to be in place by the end of this year.
The Donegal locations are:
- Robert Kee, Circle K, Laghey (N15)
- Centra Ballyshannon Service Station (N15)
- Kavanagh’s SuperValu Ballybofey (N13)
- Weev Charging Ltd, WN504, Burt (N13)
- Joseph Rafferty Oil Ltd, Circle K, Bridge End (N13)
- McGettigans Applegreen, Lifford Service Station (N15)
The announcement is part of the government’s wider plan to build a reliable recharging network across the country, with the distance between recharging hubs to be 60km or less.
The recharging hubs are funded through the Light Duty Vehicle (LDV) initiative operated by Zero Emission Vehicles Ireland (ZEVI), and delivered by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).
“This is a hugely positive step forward for Donegal,” said Senator Nikki Bradley. “We are seeing real investment in rural Ireland’s future—delivering the infrastructure that supports clean transport, tourism, and the needs of local families and businesses alike.”
